Refining Our Fireplace Mantels, One Detail at a Time
Over the past year, we’ve been rolling out a series of thoughtful upgrades across all TAGU fireplace mantels. These enhancements are now fully integrated into all newly produced units and are designed to improve installation, durability, and overall user experience.
Skirt cut-out: Engineered for a Cleaner Fit
We’ve noticed that in most cases, the fireplace mantels couldn’t be placed flush against the wall because of the skirting board. This meant that there was a finger-width gap between the mantel and the wall, which made it look strange, compared to a wood fireplace mantel.
So we’ve added a skirt cut-out at the back of each mantel, a unique industry-first feature that allows the surround to sit flush against the wall for a seamless look.
Touch-up Repair Kit Included
All mantels now include a scratch repair kit, which allows users to repair small esthetic imperfections, so they can keep the mantel in good shape for many years.
The kit comes in a little box inside each mantel’s packaging. It includes a color-matched paste, a spatula for the edges and another one for flat surfaces and instructions on how to apply the paste.

Stronger Packaging, ISTA-3A Certified
We’ve upgraded our packaging with thicker, stronger cardboard and refreshed graphics—while also ensuring every mantel is now shipped in ISTA-3A certified packaging.
This certification means the packaging has passed rigorous drop, vibration, and compression tests. If a courier damages the product during delivery, this certification makes it easier to file a claim and hold the courier responsible.
Looking Ahead
As existing stock cycles out, all TAGU mantels available on the market will include these enhancements. Check out our range of mantels paired with an electric, bioethanol or candle firebox.
We remain committed to improving every detail—so your TAGU fireplace not only looks beautiful, but is easier to install, maintain, and enjoy.
